Is a Low Carbohydrate Diet Right for You?
Low carbohydrate or low carb diets are used as a tool in weight control. In most programs, high carb foods are replaced with those containing higher portions of fats and proteins. One of the most popular low carb diets is the Atkins diet.
During the 1990s and early 2000s, low carb diets were very popular in the United States. In fact some estimates show that 18 % of the population was using some form of low carb system during this time period. This was contrary to the medical community continually denouncing the practice.
